01The market

What it is

China's toy manufacturing base. Yiwu sells toys; Chenghai makes them, so the prices are lower and the minimum orders higher.

02Why businesses visit

Toys at factory prices, in volume

Traders come to see the goods, compare sellers side by side and order by the carton — and to meet the suppliers Shantou is known for.

Tips from the office

01
Toys are the definition of light and bulky, and sea freight is charged on volume. Work out the freight before the order, not after.
02
Anything with a battery included needs declaring before it is loaded.
03
Minimum orders are factory-sized here. If you want small quantities, buy the same goods in Yiwu instead.
